Children
Children and adolescents often need support and guidance to recover from difficult situations, develop individual identities, and have healthier relationships. Together we will work to identify what is driving a particular behavior, develop a course of individual treatment, and help implement strategies at home and in school. Therapy is a safe and neutral place where kids and teens can process their experiences using a variety of modalities, including play therapy. Some of the issues that bring teens and children to therapy include:
- Disruptive behavior
- Trauma
- Divorce
- Self-destructive behavior
- Substance abuse
- Anxiety/depression
- Adoption
- ADHD
- Autism/Asperger’s
- Defiance
Families
Working with a family as a whole can be the most effective and impactful way to create positive change. Often, when one or more family members is struggling, it requires the efforts and support of the entire family system to move in a healthy direction. In family therapy we will communicate honestly and directly in order to reach treatment goals that foster healthy relationships, respect, and safety. Some of the issues that bring families to therapy include:
- Blended families
- Marriage Counseling
- Parenting disruptive children
- Parenting children with special needs
- Separation/divorce
- Adoption
- Trauma
- Substance abuse
- Grief/loss
- Sibling conflict
Adults
Individual therapy provides you with the space to focus on yourself, gain insight, and work towards your own personal goals. Individuals often come to therapy needing to heal from past situations, examine the relationships in their lives, and develop healthy coping strategies. When working with adults, my philosophy is that you are the expert on yourself, and when provided with affirmation, reflection, and gentle challenging, you will find the path to a fulfilling life. Some of the issues that bring adults to therapy include:
- Healing from trauma
- Relationship difficulties
- Self-destructive behaviors
- Anxiety/depression
- Grief/loss
- Family difficulties
- Impulsive behavior
